WHAT IS EARTH HOUR?
Earth Hour is a global initiative of WWF where individuals, schools, organizations, companies and governments turn off their lights for one hour to vote for action on climate change. By voting with their light switches, participants in Earth Hour sends a powerful visual message to their leaders demanding immediate action climate change.
Earth Hour is the largest climate event in history. In 2009, involved more than 4,000 cities in 88 countries, including 200 English cities. WWF hopes through Earth Hour generate political momentum for the adoption of an ambitious global treaty, fair and binding on climate to reduce our carbon emissions, after disappointing results from the Copenhagen Summit.

Switch off event for Earth Hour is one way people can get involved and demand action wherever they are. It's easy so that everyone can participate regardless of their location, age or income level. A gesture is a symbol, a thousand millions of actions is a global action.
THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF COPENHAGEN
In December, world leaders gathered in Copenhagen to create an international agreement that addresses climate change by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. The result was inadequate and disappointing as it was not possible to reach a consensus to produce a new ambitious, fair and binding to combat climate change. The current political situation of growing tension between the U.S. and China, the disagreements between developed and developing countries and a global economy still in recession, they draw the picture on which you have to define the campaign this year.
COMMITMENT TO THE PLANET
WWF is committed to save the most threatened habitats and species in the world, including tigers, rhinos, elephants and polar bears. To do this effectively WWF should focus on the most imminent threats, climate change being a common point for all of them. In short, climate change change the game. Threatens to undo the great progress in conservation and animal regions most important and most threatened of the world.
